On a dull wet day in looking down
Blaenavon, try at the bottom of Broad Street (the main commercial street in
town) for an oasis of warmth and brightness and there you will find the Society
shop.

The
Society shop - number 13a Broad Street - outside and within!
Quite apart from pocket money toys,
tourist souvenirs and information for both tourist and regulars alike, we have
a very useful stock of 00 gauge, 4mm scale models as well as a few 0 gauge
items. We are normally open 1100 to 1730 (1600 on Saturdays), but since we are
manned by volunteers problems sometimes arise, so give us a call if you are
travelling any distance.
Inside, as can be seen in the picture
below, we have stocks from Bachmann, Dapol and Hornby, and items from Peco,
Liliput, Parkside Dundas, Eckon, Coopercraft and any number of specialist
manufacturers, together with some special items of local interest. Our bargain
basement of second-hand bits provides a cheap start for the youngsters, or good
raw material for the experienced butcher and kit-basher,
On model railway equipment, visitors get
discounts, below list price, varying from 10% for a few of our lines and up to
20% for most of our products. For members discounts of up to 25% are on offer,
so what further excuse do you need to join the railway?
Try the only model railway shop in the
valley, ring 01495.792263 to place an order, or make enquiries,or e-mail us
at: info@PBRly.
Books
We are proud to announce that we are one of the ten
new bookshops opened in Blaenavon, thanks to James Hanna's 'Blaenavon Booktown'
initiative, which was launched on 28 June 2003. We now have a relatively large
collection of new, secondhand and very old books dealing with a variety of
transport matters. Do drop in for a browse and see what we have to offer.
Private Owner
Wagons
This very popular series is commissioned from Dapol in
typically 300 off quantities. We have the artwork ready for a huge collection
(about 200 !) of these wagons in 4mm scale. Prototypes are drawn from all over
South Wales, with a few from Dean Forest, Bristol and Oxfordshire. We intend to
produce a new title about every two months - so order yours now. We will accept
advance orders. Drop into the shop or keep an eye on this site if you want to
start collecting the many titles we intend to produce. Delay, and with a
'shelf-life' of less than two months you will certainly miss them.
Post and packing for one wagons is £1.40,
with an extra 15p for each additional wagon ordered in the UK. Overseas customers should phone or email for
payment and postage details.
If there is any title for which you are
desperate, give us a call, we'll see what we can do.

Although we have been with Dapol for a
while, we thought, bearing in mind the time we spend doing the artwork, that it
might be time to move ‘up market’ a bit.
Accordingly, and despite a minimum order of 500, we have now moved to
Bachmann for our PO wagons, with Leadbeter,
Newport. So now we need you to shift
them from our shelves, but bearing in mind what the proof artwork looks like,
they’ll fly out of the door – it’s a stunner, and at £7.40 a real steal. If you like what you see, put in your advance
order if you want to be first in the queue.
