FARES
Our fare structure is currently under review for 2010

FACILITIES
The journey is currently about ¾ mile one way and takes about 17 minutes for a round trip.  When the extension is opened, hopefully early in the year, the journey will be 2 miles one way and a round trip will take 50 minutes.  In both cases, and subject to the needs of waiting passengers, holders of ordinary return tickets may take unlimited travel on the day their ticket is issued, breaking their journey as many times as they wish.

  • There is ample free parking for both cars and coaches at Furnace Sidings, and tickets are usually available from all stations.
  • Most trains can provide drinks and light refreshments. The Whistle Inn at the northern end of the line provides restaurant facilities, a beer garden and children's playground on Sundays and bank holidays
  • Our line is the highest and steepest in the country, climbing through a wild and dramatic moorland landscape under the brooding Coity mountain. Look out for sheep, mountain horses, the peregrine falcon and hen harrier, and even the rare red kite ...and more sheep! For the butterfly fanatic, the incredibly rare Small Pearl-bordered Fritillary is known to make occasional appearances
  • Garn Lakes are within five minutes walk and make an ideal spot for a gentle walk or a picnic after a ride on the train.
  • Gifts, models and souvenirs are usually available at our site shop, just off the car park. If you are in town call in at our gift and model shop at 13a Broad Street for a wider range of goods.

·         We can usually accommodate passengers with disabilities, but it helps if you can phone us before you arrive.

Regular Services
Trains run every Sunday and Saturdays from Easter till the early October, and Hallowe’en and most weekdays when half-term holidays are due and during August.  We have a full calendar of special events but if you want to talk to us about trains then regular days are the time to come!

Charter trains
We can sometimes offer charter trains, and other services - please call us. We welcome enquiries from school parties for travel during the weeks before Christmas.

TIMETABLE
Our timetable is subject to final revision and will appear shortly

SPECIAL EVENTS

Santa Specials
In 2010, Santa Specials run on the four weekends before Christmas. See Santa and friends in his grotto at the Whistle Inn, with presents for children and mince pies and sherry for mums and dads - and a roaring log fire at the inn.
